Corning's Gorilla Glass 6 can protect your display for up to 15 drops from as high as 3 feet

Corning's Gorilla Glass has long been associated with protecting your expensive smartphones form accidental drops. Over the years, the company has continued to improve their product's durability and have their best version of the product yet with the announcement of Gorilla Glass 6.

According to Corning, phone displays using Gorilla Glass 6 will survive 15 drops 1 meter (3.28 feet) on rough surfaces. The protection on their newest displays will be twice as much as its predecessor.



According to a consumer study from media company Toluna, the average smartphone owner drops their phone seven times a year. Half of those times the drop measures 1meter or less. Corning believes Gorilla Glass 6 can help here. With modern smartphones using more glass in their design than before, Corning's protective panels will cover 85% of the handset's enclosure in some cases, including both the front and back of the device.

The new version of Gorilla Glass is already being tested by multiple manufacturers, and we should see devices protected by the new protective glass in the coming months.
