WhatsApp for iOS updated (2.18.51) with Picture-in-Picture mode, and other improvements

WhatsApp for iOS has been updated with some functionality aimed at European users, along with a few new features, improvements and bug fixes. The most significant feature appears to be the new picture in picture (PiP) functionality which has been teased for awhile now.

The new PiP mode supports two services at launch - Instagram and Facebook. This will allow anyone receiving a video link from either one of these services to view those videos right within WhatsApp.

Additionally, you will be able to watch the videos while navigating to another chat, allowing you to share your impressions with your friends.

Another feature of the update is aimed at European users, where you will have to confirm that you are at least 16 years old when you register for a WhatsApp account. This comes as part of the updates privacy policy for WhatsApp which complies with the new regulations imposed by the EU.

Additionally, WhatsApp has also introduced some admin-related features, such as the ability to remove admin rights from other participants if you are the admin of a specific group. This feature is available as 'Dismiss As Admin' under the 'Group Info' menu. Group Admins will also be able to change a group's subject, icon and description following this update. This option is available under 'Group Info' > 'Group Settings'.

You can download the update directly on your iOS device through the Apple App Store or by following the link below:
