LG G6 for Verizon receives Android 8.0 Oreo update

Verizon looks to be the first carrier to roll-out the Android 8.0 update for the handsets on their network. In the past carrier locked models usually are the last to receive updates after the go through strict regulatory channels. Unfortunately, Verizon hasn't yet updated the phone's support page, so it's unclear what security patch the update contains.

Make sure you have enough space on your device before you start downloading the update, as it is pretty large in size, weighing in at 1.9GB. Even though Verizon hasn't shared a change-log, based on a screenshot we know the update will bring features like Picture In Picture, Notifications Visual Cleanup, and Notifications Badges.

Usually these rollouts takes a few days to reach all the handsets, so it may take awhile to reach your device. You can check for its availability by heading to Settings / System update.

With Verizon rolling out the update, it shouldnt take too long for the other U.S. carriers to deploy Android 8.0 Oreo to the LG G6 handsets on their own networks.

The LG G6 is an Android smartphone featuring a 5.7 inch display, 32GB of internal storage, a (13MP+13MP) dual camera setup, a secondary camera for video calls and is powered by a Snapdragon 821 processor with 4GB of RAM.
