Oppo Neo 5 (2015) and Neo 5s officially announced

Oppo has just announced the Neo 5 (2015) and the Neo 5s, a couple of brand new Android smartphones aimed at the mid-range market. The new Neo 5 is the successor to the original Oppo Neo 5, which launched last year, while the Neo 5s is a more powerful variant with additional storage options, a better processor and an improved display.

The Oppo Neo 5 (2015) features a 4.5 inch display with a 480 x 854 pixel resolution, 8GB of internal storage which can be expanded through (up to 32GB) microSD, an 8MP rear camera with f/2.2 aperture and an LED flash, a 2000mAh battery and a quad-core MediaTek MT6582 processor with dual-core Mali-400MP2 graphics and 1GB of RAM.

The Oppo Neo 5s features a 4.5 inch display with a 480 x 854 pixel resolution, 8GB of internal storage which can be expanded through (up to 128GB) microSD, an 8MP rear camera with f/2.2 aperture and an LED flash, a 2000mAh battery and a Qualcomm 64-bit Snapdragon S410 processor with Adreno 306 graphics and 1GB of RAM.

Both ship with ColorOS running atop Android KitKat 4.4.2, which is disappointing given that a large number of cheaper handsets are now offering Android 5.x Lollipop out of the box. Still, there's no reason why a Lollipop update couldn't arrive in the future.

There's no word on when these two will be released, but it's safe to assume that the Neo 5s will be pricier than the Neo 5 (2015). Stay tuned for pricing and availability details, as we will update this post when we learn more.
