Motorola Moto Maxx receives Android 5.0.2 update

Motorola Moto Maxx receives Android 5.0.2 updateThe Motorola Moto Maxx (XT1225) is now receiving the Android 5.0 Lollipop update. The Moto Maxx is the non-CDMA, global variant of the Motorola DROID Turbo, which is a Verizon exclusive in the U.S.

Unlike the DROID Turbo, which is available in both 32GB and 64GB versions, the Moto Maxx can be purchased only with 64GB of native storage which means it comes with the ballistic nylon back.

Android 5.0.2 updateThe update brings Android 5.0.2 along with the new Material Design look, Lock Screen notifications, the new "Recent Apps" menu, two-finger slide down for Quick Settings from any page, the 64-bit ART compiler which opens apps faster, Project Volta for improved battery life, and more.

According to reports, the Moto Maxx touchscreen feels more responsive after installing the Lollipop update. The handset also managed to tally a slightly higher AnTuTu score.

Hopefully the update also contains a fix for the bug that has been ailing some Moto Maxx owners who aren't getting anything close to the battery life that they should be enjoying.

Motorola and Verizon have said that the Motorola DROID Turbo will be receiving Android 5.1 Lollipop. While there has not been any official confirmation, the update is expected to arrive sometime next month. Its likely that the Moto Maxx will also be treated to the update.
