Opera mini for Android updated (8.0) with visual overhaul, private tabs, and more

Opera Mini for Android has been updated to version 8.0 and brings several new features and improvements including a visual overhaul. The navigation bar remains at the bottom, while the Speed Dial has received a facelift and now displays icons instead of thumbnails. Additionally, both the Speed Dial and Discover have combined to form a new start page. Opera Mini also better adjusts to flagship displays thanks to high DPI support.

Opera Mini now requires Android 2.3 or higher. If you're using an older device, you will have to continue running a previous version of the browser.

The update Opera mini also offers private browsing tabs, introduces a new data counter to show how much data you're saving, and supports a few swipe gestures. Opera says this release should save 10% more data. You can see all these new features demonstrated in the following video
