Microsoft Office Lens released for iOS and Android

Microsoft has released Office Lens for iPhone and Android, essentially turning your smartphone into a portable scanner. Office Lens is the latest of a growing list of apps that have been brought over to iOS and Android.

Microsoft Office Lens for Windows Phone was released last year, allowing users to scan documents, receipts, business cards, whiteboards, menus, and so on. The app recognizes the corners of a document, thus being able to magically enhance, crop, and clean up images. With OCR (optical character recognition), Office Lens identifies printed text, allowing you to search images by keyword in OneNote and OneDrive. Office Lens can also convert scans into Word documents, PDF files, or PowerPoint presentations.

Apple iPhone users can try out Office Lens for iOS right now, by downloading it on the Apple App Store. Office Lens for Android is still only available as a beta, and those interested can join the Office Lens Android Preview and become a tester.
