Maps on Windows 10 for phones is a universal app which integrates Bing and HERE MapsThose who have downloaded the latest technical preview of Windows 10 for phones would have come across a brand new Maps app. According to Microsoft, the app is based on the new Windows Universal app platform. More importantly, it integrates "the best maps, aerial imagery, rich local search data, and voice guided navigation experiences from both Bing Maps and HERE maps." HERE Maps as you may know, is Nokia's highly regarded mapping service that is also available for iOS and Android.

Besides using pinch-to-zoom, you can also use two fingers to tilt the map. Other features include an aerial view of your location, and another view that shows traffic along your route. Clicking on "Show My Location" will immediately zoom in to your current location. If you want to find some place to go, tapping on the Search button will show popular categories such as Restaurants, Coffee, Hotels. If you're staying at a hotel in a city that you are not familiar with, the detail card for that hotel will recommend places to eat and shop. The card will also give you attractions to visit and activities to take part in.

When it comes to turn-by-turn navigation, the Map app will show you the quickest way to your destination based on current traffic conditions. There are day and night modes and speed limit warnings.

You can try the Windows 10 Technical Preview on your supported Lumia Windows Phone by joining the Windows Insider Program. You can also check out some screenshots from the new Windows 10 Maps app in the slideshow below
