Huawei reveals its Android 5.0 Lollipop update plans

With the Huawei P8 just around the corner, the company has also revealed its plans to bring the Android 5.0 Lollipop update to some of the devices that it released in 2014, including the Ascend Mate7, Ascend P7, Ascend Mate 2, and Ascend G7.

The Ascend Mate7 which was released in September 2014 with Android 4.4 KitKat, will be first in line to receive the Lollipop update (starting May). Next will be the Ascend P7 and Ascend Mate 2, both of which are scheduled to get Lollipop starting July. Interestingly, the Mate 2 will be updated directly to Lollipop from Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. As for the mid-range Ascend G7, this will be updated to Android 5.0 starting September. Besides Lollipop, the update should also bring an updated version of Huawei's Emotion UI (EMUI) which is currently on version 3.0.

Companies like Motorola, HTC and Samsung are further along in bringing Lollipop to their handsets than Huawei, but its good to see that the company isn't ignoring its important handsets.
