Microsoft unveils Windows 10 IoT Edition

During the WinHEC summit in China, Microsoft announced Windows 10 IoT Edition, that will power a range of intelligent, connected Internet of Things devices. 

Windows 10 IoT will power a range of intelligent connected IoT devices- from small devices like gateways, to powerful industry devices like robotics and specialty medical devices.

The new pertaining system will offers a converged platform for devices with enterprise-grade security from the device to the cloud, and native connectivity for machine-to-machine and machine-to-cloud scenarios with Azure IoT Services.

The Windows 10 IoT edition is designed to deliver lowest footprint and resource consumption, which makes it suitable for small devices. Builds on the same one core OS and platform that underlies Windows 10 for phones or PCs, this new version of OS is optimized for single-app/purpose-built IoT devices.

Microsoft has also partnered with Raspberry Pi Foundation, Intel, and Qualcomm,to provide a range of developer boards Makers to device builders to bring Windows 10 devices to life. This new version of Windows 10 IoT will be available free for Makers and commercial device builders this summer with Windows 10.
