Huawei MediaPad X2 officially announced with a 7 inch display and 5000mAh battery

The Huawei MediaPad X1 Android tablet was announced last year, with a 7 inch display and telephony functionality. Fast forwarding to today, at MWC 2015, the company has introduced its successor, the Huawei MediaPad X2 with several enhancements over last year's model.

The new model features a 7 inch IPS display with a 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution, a 13MP rear camera with a dedicated ISP chip, which promises better low-light photos, a 5MP front facing camera for video calls and an "ultra" octa-core, 64-bit Kirin 930 chipset clocked at 2.0GHz.

The device will be available in two versions - one with 2GB of RAM/16GB of native storage and a beefier one with 3GB of RAM/32GB of available storage. Connectivity-wise, both of these are dual-SIM slates with LTE Cat.6 on board.Audiophiles will probably rejoice the Smart PA audio chip and a DTS surround sound technology on board.

While, the tablet comes with the same 5000mAh battery as its predecessor, the newer model boasts better battery life overall. You get up to 60 hours of music playback, 12 hours of video watching and 15 hours of browsing the internet.

The Huawei MediaPad X2 will ship with Android 5.0 Lollipop onboard, and is set to launch in many markets, including China and Europe. Its not known if Huawei plans to offer their newest tablet in the USA, but it will likely find its way through unofficial channels.
