HTC One M9 vs. Apple iPhone 6 - Video Comparison

Despite their differences, both Apple and HTC are known for crafting beautiful smartphones. Apple's latest iPhone 6 was launched last fall, and its all metal design had some striking similarities to the HTC One M8. Now HTC is back again with a brand new HTC One M9 which refines its predecessor's design while packing even more powerful hardware.

Both the iPhone 6 and the HTC One M9 are great options for anyone looking to purchase a new smartphone. Both have premium metal designs and powerful hardware. The clear differentiator is the underlying platform which offers a different user experience. HTC offers Android 5.0 Lollipop on its flagship, which has been customized with the Sense 7.0 UI, while the Apple iPhone 6 runs iOS 8.0 at its finest.

Slowdown or sluggishness isn't a concern with either device, despite the One M9 packing theoretically the more powerful hardware. For the HTC One M9, you have a 64-bit based octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chip with a generous 3GB of RAM. In contrast, the iPhone 6 has a 64-bit dual-core Apple A8 processor with 1GB of RAM.

When it comes to storage, you can pick between 32GB or 64GB of internal storage on the One M9 with the option of expanding it through microSD. iPhone 6 users will have to select between the 16GB, 64GB or 128GB storage options based on their need, as expansion is not a possibility without replacing your phone.

In terms of cameras, the HTC One M9 has a 20MP sensor versus the 8MP sensor on the iPhone 6. Despite the difference, both cameras perform extremely well in capturing photos where there is ample light. The larger sensor gives HTC's smartphone a slight advantage in detail, but it shouldn't be too noticeable. Still in low light cases, Apple seems to do a better job capturing detail and offering more pleasant photos.

HTC had a huge obstacle to overcome in the form of the popular iPhone 6, and is manages to impress in some key areas, including its software experience, design, and call quality performance. However the new Android flagship misses out on some aspects like battery life and camera quality which they can hopefully address with a software update.
