Archos announces new large screen Android smartphones at MWC 2015

At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 in Barcelona, French electronics vendor Archos premiered its annual lineup of affordable Android smartphones. They include two smartphones, where one is powered by an octa-core chip, and two large screen phablets.

The Archos 50 Oxygen Plus is the most powerful in the lineup, featuring a 5 inch display with a 720 x 1280 pixel resolution, an 8MP rear camera, a 5MP front camera and a 1.4GHz octa-core MediaTek processor with 1GB of RAM. The device runs Android 4.4 KitKat, and is set to go on sale in March for around $200. A 4G LTE variant with Android 5.0 Lollipop may also be on its way in June.

The Archos 52 Platinum has a 5.2 inch display with a 720 x 1280 pixel resolution, 8GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, an 8MP rear camera, and a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek processor with 1GB of RAM. The device will cost around $145.

The Archos 59 Xenon has a 5.9 inch display with a 720 x 1280 pixel resolution, 8GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, an 8MP rear camera, and a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek processor with 1GB of RAM. The device will cost around $158.

The Archos 62 Xenon has a 6.2 inch display with a 720 x 1280 pixel resolution, 8GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, an 8MP rear camera, and a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek processor with 1GB of RAM. The device will cost around $170.

The exact availability and release dates of the latter three have not been revealed by Archos.
