Apple TV discounted to $69, offers HBO Now for $14.99 a month

During Apple's Spring Forward event, the company announced a new partnership with HBO, to bring the premium broadcasting service to its Apple TV, along with its iOS devices. Additionally Apple also announced that their plans to offer the Apple TV at a discounted price in future

HBO CEO Richard Plepler was invited on stage during the event to talk about the partnership, and announced that the HBO Now streaming service will be offered to Apple TV subscribers for $14.99 per month. On top of that, those who subscribe for the service in April will get the first month free. The HBO Now streaming service is available across the entire iOS platform, allowing customers to enjoy HBO content like Game of Thrones on their iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch. However the service is not extended to Mac users at this point.

On top of the new service, Apple wants its set-top-box to be in more homes, and understands that the $99 price is not for everyone. In celebrating the passing of the 25 million mark in terms of sales, Apple has also dropped the price of Apple TV to just $69.

Now with a lower price and HBO on board, the Apple TV has thrown down the gauntlet to Amazon, Google, and the rest of the field. Will the new price and the introduction of HBO Now coax you into snapping up an Apple TV? Or do the limitations when compared to Android-based set-tops dissuade you from diving in?
