Motorola Moto X (2014) for AT&T receives Android 5.0 Lollipop

It looks like the Motorola Moto X (2014) on AT&T is now being updated to Android 5.0 Lollipop. Motorola was repeatedly soak testing the update recently, and the fact that the update is rolling out may indicate that the soak test has ended successfully. The update is being pushed out to handsets OTA (over-the-air) and is reportedly around 652.5MB in size.

With Android Lollipop, your second-generation Moto X will gain the new Material Design inspired user interface, an improved notification tray with a swipe down for quick Settings, Lock Screen notifications, the new 64-bit ART compiler, a redesigned multitasking screen, improved battery life with Project Volta, and more.

Because of the size of the update, it is recommended that you connect to WiFi to save on your data allowance, and ensure your battery is appropriately (at least 50%) charged before installing the update. According to the report, it looks like the update has just started rolling out, so it may be a few days before it is available for all handsets. In any case you should receive a notification when the update is available for your device. You can also try manually checking for the update under Settings.
