Microsoft Office 2016 Consumer Technical Preview released

Microsoft OfficeBesides updating Office Online, and releasing the first Windows 10 Technical Preview for phones, Microsoft has also made the Office Consumer Technical Preview available for download to anyone who wants to try it out.

Keep in mind that this is a prerelease version of Office, and users will require to sign a nondisclosure agreement on the Microsoft Connect website before they can download and try it out.

Microsoft launched Office Consumer Technical Preview late last year, and only made it available on an invitation basis. The general release Microsoft Office 2016 is expected to be made available in the second half of this year along with an updated version of Office for Mac. Microsoft has still not released a list of features for Office 2016, but it will likely be optimised for touch along with keyboard and mouse users.

Last month, Microsoft released preview versions of Office Touch for Windows 10, which Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and Outlook. These universal apps are available across PCs, tablets and phones and have been fully optimized for touch users.
