HTC One M8 for T-Mobile receives Android 5.0 Lollipop

HTC One M8The HTC One M8 for T-Mobile is now receiving the Android 5.0 Lollipop update. With Lollipop your handset will receive a new notifications feature for the lock screen, the new "Recent Apps" menu, the Lollipop Material Design, the 64-bit ART compiler (making your apps load faster), Project Volta for better battery life and more.

The update is being pushed out OTA (over the air) and you should receive a notification when it is available for your handset. Keep in mind that the update is being rolled out in stages, so it may be a few days before it is available for download. You can try manually checking for the update under Settings > System Update >Check New.

The update is reportedly 632.7MB in size, so users are advised to connect to WiFi before downloading it to save on their data allowance. It is also important to ensure your battery is fully charged before installing the update on your device.

Since HTC Sense 7.0 won't be part of the Lollipop update, users may not notice too many changes in the overall UI. We expect the company will push out the Sense update at a later time.

Sprint has started rolling out the Lollipop update for the HTC One (M7), and is expected to push out Lollipop for the HTC One M8 soon. AT&T has started pushing out Android 4.4.4 for its HTC One M8, so it could be awhile before Lollipop is offered for its device. Verizon has not revealed when it will be pushing out the update for its variant of the HTC One M8.
