HTC Desire 626

Today HTC announced the Desire 626, a mid-range Android smartphone which aims to take on the popular Motorola Moto G. The handset was officially unveiled in Taiwan, HTC's home country, where it will be sold for the equivalent of around $189.

The HTC Desire 626 features a 5.0 inch display with a 720 x 1280 pixel resolution, 16GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, a 13MP rear camera, a 5MP front camera, LTE connectivity, a 2000mAh battery, dual-speakers and a 64-bit quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor with 1GB of RAM. HTC also has another variant of the Desire 626 for the Chinese market, which will be powered by a 1.7GHz octa-core MediaTek processor.

All in all the handset looks somewhat similar to the recently announced HTC Desire 826, but is smaller, measuring 146.9 x 70.9 x 8.19 mm and weighing 135 grams. The front camera is also placed on the side, and not in the center like the Desire 826.

Like most of HTC's high-end and mid-range smartphones, the new Desire is compatible with DotView cases. Unfortunately, we don't currently know if HTC plans to offer this handset outside of Taiwan, but we will let you know if we hear more.
