Unlocked Lumia 830 now available through Microsoft Store for $499

Nokia Lumia 830

You can now purchased the unlocked Lumia 830 through the Microsoft Store in the U.S. for $499. The Lumia 830 is one of handsets offered by Microsoft Mobile, offering a PureView camera, wireless charging and more in a sleek frame.

Microsoft released the Lumia 830 as an affordable flagship, and was launched on AT&T back in November for $99 with a two-year contract. The handset features a 5 inch 720p IPS display with Gorilla Glass protection, 16GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, a 10MP PureView camera with OIS, a secondary camera for video calls, a 2200mAh battery and a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor with 1GB of RAM.

While it may not be as powerful as devices like the Lumia 930 or the Lumia 1520, its clearly the best designed and thinnest Lumia to-date. Its thin aluminum frame, which fortifies the device, gives it a classy, rich look and its beautiful display neatly curves into its frame with a pillow like effect.

We are somewhat disappointed by its pricing though, as devices like the Nexus 5 offer better hardware at an even lower price. Additionally devices like the Lumia 930 can now be purchased for around the same price from Amazon. Hopefully Microsoft will realise the potential they have in the Lumia 830 and bring down that price to around $299 or $349, which will surely make the device a bigger hit.
