Remix ultra-tablet is a Surface like tablet which runs Android

Have you wished the Microsoft Surface ran Android instead of Windows? Jide Technology, a company formed by three ex-Googlers have put together a device which "eliminates the drawbacks of the tablets and laptops on the market today".

The device is called the Remix ultra-tablet, and it is strikingly similar to the Microsoft Pro 3. You get a kickstand which allows the device to stand up on a flat surface, and you even get a keyboard with an attached touchpad which doubles as a screen protector. The manufacturer has even included an almost identical mechanism for the keyboard to attach to the tablet, through a proprietary magnetic charging port.

As for its specifications, the Remix ultra-tablet features a 11.6-inch display with a 1920x1080 pixels resolution, 16GB/64GB of internal flash storage, a 5MP rear camera, a 5MP front camera and a 1.8GHz Nvidia Tegra 4+1 A15 processor with 2GB RAM. It supports 2.4 and 5GHz 802.11 a/b/g/n, and packs in 8,100mAh battery.

The Remix ultra-tablet runs Remix OS, a custom Android build built over Android 4.4.2. In addition to the stock Android features, it also offers an app-switching taskbar, and windowed apps. In fact its email client even looks exactly like the Windows 8.1 email client.

"It's easy to see it in our hardware, but you'll truly get it through our software. Remix OS is a customized version of Android that merges the productivity functions and habits you're used to on PCs, while keeping the simplicity you've come to expect from a tablet. True mobile productivity, the definition of an ultra-tablet," the product description states.

In terms of pricing, the 16GB model will cost $349, while the 64GB model has been priced at $449. The device will first go on sale in China and eventually arrive at US and UK.
