Microsoft may have cancelled Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 in favor of Windows 10

Windows 10Microsoft is busy building Windows 10, which will be available across PCs, Tablets and smartphones. Some newly surfaced reports suggest that Microsoft may be planning to cancel Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 in favor of directly updating their smartphones to Windows 10.

Microsoft initially planned to release two updates to Windows Phone 8.1. The first updated (GDR1) is already rolling out to several devices, bringing Cortana, a swipe-enabled keyboard, Action Center, background images on Live Tiles, and more. Update 1 is also accompanied by Lumia Denim for Microsoft Mobile (Nokia) devices which exclusive enhancements to photography and a "Hey Cortana" feature.

Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 (GDR2) was expected to bring features such as the Bluetooth-related MAP, HID 1.1, HOGP, and Absolute Volume Control. Now that the update may not be arriving, Microsoft will likely include all these enhancements directly into Windows 10 for phones.

Do you agree with Microsoft's choice to merge the GDR2 features into Windows 10? Or should Microsoft have released the update separately?
