Microsoft has announced the Lumia 638 for India. The handset is priced at INR 8,299, making it the cheapest 4G-supported device in the country. The handset follows in the footsteps of the affordable Lumia 535 which was launched in India last month building on the strong portfolio of affordable devices for Microsoft.


Those interested in the Lumia 638 can purchase it through the Microsoft Store on Amazon India. Its a great alternative to devices like the Lumia 520, Lumia 525 and the Lumia 535 - all devices in the sub 10,000 INR range.

The Lumia 638 is nearly identical to the Lumia 630 but comes with 4G bands compatible with India. It features a 4.5 inch WVGA display, 8GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, a 5 megapixel rear camera capable of 720p video, a 1830 mAh battery and a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor with 1GB of RAM. On the software side you have Windows Phone 8.1 with the HERE navigation suite and other Lumia apps and services.
