Lumia Denim update starts rolling out to select models in Europe

Earlier today, the Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 with Lumia Denim started rolling out to several devices in China. We also heard the update was making its rounds in other regions. Now it looks like the latest version of Windows Phone is being pushed out to Lumia handsets in Europe.

The Nokia Lumia 520, Nokia Lumia 530, Nokia Lumia 620, Nokia Lumia 625, Nokia Lumia 925, Nokia Lumia 1020, and the Nokia Lumia 1320 are some of the handsets currently being updated to Lumia Denim. The list of devices and availability will continue to grow in the coming days and you can check here updated information regarding the update availability.

The update will be sent out in stages, so you may not receive it immediately. You can manually check for the update availability by Settings > Phone update > Check for updates on your device.

The update will bring several new features and improvements to the Windows Phone platform, along with some exclusive enhancements for Lumia devices. Among the new features is one that allows you to activate virtual personal assistant Cortana by saying, "Hey Cortana." This feature requires a phone powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 800 or higher CPU.

Lumia smartphones will also benefit from the updated Lumia Camera pp, which helps the camera boot up faster than before. It also allows you to snap a series of pictures with just a fraction of a second between shots. Additionally select models will allow you to perform Moment Captures, where you can record video in 4K and capture HD photos from the video.

The update also allows you to add either Bing Weather or Bing Health and Fitness data to the Glance screen. You also get the ability to create folders using your live tiles and further customize your personal experience on Windows Phone.
