When Google Fit for Android was first released, it came with the most basic features and like most Google apps we expected it would be updated over the course of its life. Now the company has released the first major update to the app adding over 100 new activities you can choose for your workouts.
You can download the update directly on your Android device through the Google Play Store or by using the following links:

The original version of Google Fit for Android only contained running, walking, and biking; but, the new version adds several new activities, including: Australian football, badminton, basketball, calisthenics, curling, dancing, elliptical, fencing, gardening, hiking, ice skating, jumping rope, kickboxing, MMA, P90X, Pilates, polo, rowing, sand running, soccer, spinning, surfing, volleyball, yoga, and Zumba.
Google Fit also attempts to make your smartwatch more independent with improved Android Wear support. There is even an experimental feature to keep tracking your steps when your watch is disconnected from your phone. This will allow you to get a step count with only your Android Wear device next time you go on a walk/run.
