Apple iOS 8.1.2 now available for download

iOS 8.1.2

Apple has released the iOS 8.1.2 incremental update for all compatible iOS devices. The iOS 8.1.2 update is meant to deal with some minor issues with the iOS platform, and will hopefully continue the work started with iOS 8.1.1 in improving the performance of the platform on older devices.

Unfortunately the change-log is very vague, and only suggests that the update is a "fix to restore ringtones that you might have purchased from iTunes, and had been removed unexpectedly". Besides this, Apple has hopefully addressed a few other minor issues and bugs with this update.

The update will be pushed out to compatible devices OTA (over-the-air) and you should get a notification when it is available for download. You can also manually install the OTA update by heading to Settings.

You can also install the update manually through iTunes by downloading the IPSW files using the following links.

Meanwhile Apple is also working on the iOS 8.2 update which brings support for WatchKit and the Apple Watch. The Apple Watch is expected for release in the spring of 2015, so it is likely that iOS 8.2 will arrive around that same time.
