Microsoft Lumia 940 rumored to feature 24MP PureView camera, Snapdragon 805 and Windows 10

Microsoft Lumia
Microsoft is set to show of their first Lumia branded device tomorrow, but the handset is an entry level device without any characteristics of a flagship. Now a new rumors has made its way from one of Nokia's supplier factories, which suggest that Microsoft is also working on the Lumia 940 with flagship specifications.

One thing the Lumia 940 doesn't include is a Quad HD display, as the specifications suggest the successor to the Lumia 930 will come with a 5 inch 1080p display instead. Given the amount of power required for a Quad HD display, we can't say we are disappointed by the lower resolution though. Interestingly, the phone is listed with Gorilla Glass 4 protective screen sheet - an edition that hasn't even been announced by Corning yet, which raises some red flags. Other specifications include a 2.7 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor, coupled with 3 GB of RAM, which should ensure the Lumia 940 powerforms very smoothly.

The Lumia 940 will also reportedly feature a 24MP PureView camera capable of 4K video recording with 60fps and a 5 MP front camera capable 1080p video capture. Nokia has made some great innovation with their cameras, and the Lumia 830 showed us how slim they can make their devices even with a powerful PureView camera inside. The Lumia 940 might also be comparatively compact, at 137 x 71 x 8.9mm, weighing 149 grams. This means it will be a full millimeter thinner than the Lumia 930, even though it has the same width and height.

The important thing to note is that the Lumia 940 is listed to be running Windows 10 (or Windows Phone 10), which isn't expected on smartphones until sometime next year. We recently reported that Microsoft maybe testing Windows 10 internally on a mobile device, but it isnt likely we will see the Lumia 940 land anytime soon.

Its important to remember that all of this information is based on rumors, and we cant take the alleged table as factually accurate until we get more proof. In any case, we know Windows 10 is coming for phones, and that Microsoft is ready to unveil some Lumia devices. So lets keep our fingers crossed and see what turns up next.
