Microsoft Health announced as company's new Health and Fitness platform

Today Microsoft announced its first wearable device, the Microsoft Band which runs on the company's new health and fitness platform, 'Microsoft Health' for wearable devices. Microsoft Health is a new cloud-based health and fitness platform that stores and analyzes data gathered from fitness devices and provides users with actionable insights through an intelligence engine.

Microsoft Health is designed to make personal fitness tracking easier with more insightful and more holistic. Microsoft Health gathers data from different health and fitness devices and services in a single, secure location. The cloud powered health service then combine the data you generate from different devices and services - steps, calories, heart rate and more - and provides powerful insights from its Intelligence Engine so you can reach your fitness goals.. Right now the Intelligence Engine share insights such as:

• The recommended recovery time based on the intensity of a workout
• The amount of restful vs. restless sleep
