Motorola Moto 360 officially announced, available starting today for $249

After months of waiting since our first glimpse at Google I/O, the Motorola Moto 360 has finally been made official. It brings the premium design with a circular watch interface and will be available for purchase later today, September 5 for $249.

In terms of specifications you get a 1.56 inch display with a 320x290 pixel resolution, 4GB of internal storage, a pedometer, a heart rate monitor, wireless charging and a TI OMAP processor with 512MB of RAM. The device is water resistant with IP67 certification, and the display is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass.

The Moto 360 has some unique features that sets it apart from the other wearable devices in the market. For example it is the only round Android Wear device currently on sale (until the LG G Watch R is released). It also uses wireless charging, instead of the pogo pin charging found on its competitors. Additionally Motorola has built software around their heart rate monitor, allowing you to get a Heart Rate card to show your current heart rate, plus a summary of the day; and, a Heart Activity card which helps you track if you've met your 30 minutes of aerobic activity for the day, and how you're doing on a 5 day chart.

The Moto 360 will be available in black leather and a limited edition gray leather with suede finish in the US today starting at noon EST for $249.99 from Motorola, Google Play, and through Best Buy. Additionally, Moto 360 will be available in two metal options later this fall for $299.99. For those who buy a Moto 360 today, there will be an option to purchase a metal band this fall for $79.99. Leather bands will also be available independently for $29.99 at that time.
