Google schedules September 15 event in India, likely Android One unveiling

Google has scheduled an event that will take place in India on September 15 at noon (3 AM ET), where the company is expected to unveil its first Android One Device.

Android One is a new program Google is launching alongside a few manufacturers that are large in India and other developing countries. Android One brings a stock Android experience, decent specs and under a cost of $100. Google will be achieving this feat by working with manufacturers like Karbonn, Micromax and Spice to bring out the first of these handsets.

Google hopes this combination will enable them to  reach the next billion smartphone users. Since these devices will be directly updated by Google, those in these regions will be getting a more affordable alternative to the Nexus devices.
