Android L Release may soon arrive on Nexus 4, original Nexus 7 and Nexus 10

It was just last week that we saw Google unveil their Android L Release at Google I/O 2014. The latest version of Google's mobile OS was later released in the form of a Developer Preview to those who owned either a Nexus 5 or new Nexus 7. Unfortunately this meant other Nexus owners would have to wait with the rest to get their hands on the L Release.

However it looks like those with the Google Nexus 4, the original Google Nexus 7 and even the Google Nexus 10 could soon be able to get their hands on the Android L Developer Preview Release.

This is because Google has just released the Android L source code to AOSP, which is the Android Open Source Project. The new code releases also support the Wi-Fi-only and Wi-Fi + cellular Nexus 7 tablets - both new and old - ensuring every base is covered. However the kernel source and drivers weren’t provided, which is another key component we’ll have to wait for.

So what exactly does all of this mean for other users? Nothing. Sadly this is only for Nexus devices, as expected, and this also won’t be arriving as an easy over-the-air update anytime either. Again, this is an early developer preview of the next version of Android and is primarily meant for developers and enthusiasts will be the only ones enjoying this for now, or those daring enough to dig through some forums and flash it themselves.

Android L will arrive later this fall (September or October) with the Android 5.0 (or 4.5) product number and likely have the Lollipop title attached to it.
