Samsung Galaxy S III for Verizon receives Android 4.4 KitKat

The Samsung Galaxy S III for Verizon (SCH-I535) is now receiving the Android 4.4 KitKat software update. The update will bring the Android 4.4.2 along with the JSS15J.I535VRUCNC1 software version and will come to your devices over-the-air. With the update you will get several new features and improvements from KitKat along with certain new enhancements to your device which are exclusively from Samsung.

The most notable new additions are probably Multi-Window, which is a multitasking feature that allows you to run two apps in split-screen view, and Samsung KNOX 2.0, the award-winning security solution. Apart from these, the KitKat update also brings a wide range of small changes in the user interface – some widgets have been removed and certain apps have been renamed. A lot of existing performance and connectivity issues have been resolved, too.

It is important to note that Samsung choose not to release Android KitKat for international variants of the Galaxy S III, which has 1GB of RAM. Luckily Verizon's model (like other US models) comes with 2GB on board.

Keep in mind that Android updates are not made available for all devices on the same day and are usually rolled out in stages. It may be a couple do days before you will be able to download and install the update on your device, but you can manually check for it under Settings.
