Oppo R3 announced as the new world's thinnest LTE smartphone

OppoOppo has announced a new Android smartphone named the Oppo R3 for the Chinese market. The device features a 5 inch 720p HD touch display, 8GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, an 8 megapixel rear camera, a 5 megapixel front camera and a 1.6GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor with 1GB of RAM.

Measuring in at 6.3 mm thin, the R3 is Oppo's thinnest handset to date, and even happens to be the world’s thinnest LTE smartphone (though it appears to be supporting only China’s LTE frequencies).

On the software side, the Oppo R3 runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, which has been customized with Oppo's ColorOS user interface. The device weighs 140 grams, and includes a 2,420 mAh battery.

Oppo will sell the R3 in China starting this week, for about $368 (2,290 CNY in local currency). The company didn't say if it plans to release the smartphone (or variations of it) internationally. You can check out some live photos showing the R3 in the slideshow below:
