Apple announces new entry level 21.5 inch iMac

Even though we didn't see any new hardware announcements at this year's WWDC from Apple, its good to see the Cupertino based company is continuously working on its portfolio. Apple has just introduced a new iMac, which has been priced at $1099.00 with entry level specs. This is the most affordable all-in-one computer from Apple to date. 

The iMac comes with a 1.4GHz (up to 2.7GHz with Turbo Boost) dual-core Intel Core i5 processor, 500GB of HDD storage, an Intel HD Graphics 5000 GPU and 8GB of RAM. The device will come with Wi-Fi 802.11 ac connectivity, 4 USB 4.0 ports and two thunderbolt ports. If you want to upgrade the base model, you can include a 1TB hard disk, 1TB Fusion Drive and 256GB flash storage, among others for an added cost.

The iMac will come with OS X Mavericks, which will likely receive a free update to OS X Yosemite later this year. Other software applications like the iWork productivity suite and the iLife  entertainment suite are available for free. These suites will give you access to apps like iMovie, iPhoto, GarageBand, Pages, Numbers and Keynote.

You can purchase the new iMacs right now through Apple's online store, Apple Retail Stores and select authorized resellers.

Even though Apple has continued to reduce the entry price of their product portfolio, we are not happy with the hardware Apple has offered on its latest iMac. Previous generations of entry level iMacs have offered dedicated graphics chips, while current users will have to settle for Intel graphics chips with the affordable iMacs.
