[Android app] YouTube updated (5.7) with ability to select video streaming quality

The YouTube for Android app has been updated to version 5.7 and brings a long awaited feature to the app - the ability to select the streaming quality of videos. Previously, Android users could only opt to watch a given video in either HD/HQ (where available) or not.

Strangely this feature has been available on YouTube for iOS for some time now, so its about time Google implemented it on their own Android platform.

Once you have installed YouTube for Android version 5.7, you will be able to choose to stream between 144p, 240p, 360p, 720p, and 1080p. Additionally, there is an "Auto" option, which chooses the best possible quality based on your current Internet connection. The streaming quality of the video playback can be adjusted from the Settings menu, which is in the upper right corner of the video you are watching.
