Unlocked Nokia Lumia 1520 available in the U.S., can be used with T-Mobile

Nokia Lumia 1520

The Nokia Lumia 1520 is available in the U.S. exclusively through AT&T. While T-Mobile customers don't have access to Nokia's phablet, they can now purchase the unlocked version through various online retailers including Amazon, NegriElectronics and NewEgg.

It turns out that the unlocked Lumia 1520.3 (RM-938) supports the same AWS bands used by T-Mobile. Additionally, this device is also capable of running on AT&T's LTE network. Since it is unlocked, and not tied down to AT&T's network, this version of the Lumia 1520 uses the Qi standard for wireless charging instead of the PMA standard used by AT&T. In addition, the unlocked version comes with 32GB of native storage, double the amount that the carrier locked AT&T unit offers you.

The only downside to purchasing an unlocked device, is the lack of carrier subsidies. This means you will have to be willing to pay around $657 in order to purchase the handset. However it is important to note that T-Mobile no longer offers carrier contracts with subsidized prices, so purchasing an unlocked device through a retailer works just as well.

Amazon BLACK | YELLOW | WHITE [RM-937]

Negri Electronics only has the device in Black, while yellow and white variants are on back order. NewEgg currently reports that their units are out of stock, but they have the Lumia 1520 priced at $624. Amazon does carry the unlocked version in all three colors, but it doesn't support all the LTE bands required by T-Mobile.
