Halo: Spartan Assault has become the first universal Windows app, no proudly sporting the "Made for Windows Phones and PCs" icon and text. This means that if you pay for the app once, on the Windows Phone or Windows Store, it will be available across all your Windows running devices.

Halo: Spartan Assault offers a third person perspective and is designed to span a timeline between Halo 3 and Halo 4. However Microsoft promises that you wont have to know the history of the Halo universe to enjoy the game. Those who have played the previous titles may better understand the 25 new missions which offer "new insights into the first missions of the Spartan Ops program, the history of the Human-Covenant wars, and the rise of Commander Sarah Palmer."

While the game will cost $4.99 across all Windows 8, Windows RT and Windows Phone 8 devices, it will continue to remain an exclusive to some regions until August.
