Samsung Galaxy S III Mini Value Edition now available

Samsung recently launched a slightly upgraded version of its Galaxy S III Mini in Europe. Called Galaxy S III Mini Value Edition, this new handset is nearly identical to the older model, and you wouldn't know it's a new device just by looking at it.

It seems that there are only two differences between the Galaxy S III Mini VE and the original version of the smartphone (first released in late 2012). The new model runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box (as opposed to Android 4.1), and has a 1.2GHz dual-core processor (an upgrade from the 1.0GHz dual-core CPU of the old model). The rest of its features remained unchanged, including a 4-inch display with 480 x 800 pixels, 5MP rear camera, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of expandable internal memory.

For the moment, the Galaxy S III Mini Value Edition is available only in the Netherlands. The handset costs around $250 (€181) - that’s about $50 higher than the price of the original S III Mini. It doesn't really make sense for Samsung to market a Value Edition of an older handset, especially if its going to cost more.
