Nokia X available in the U.S. through Negri Electronics

The Android based Nokia X may not be officially headed to the U.S., but that won't keep third party sellers from offering the affordable handset for their customers. Negri Electronics, a popular online retailer has the Nokia X for sale for just $162 in Black, White and Red.

The Nokia X runs a forked version of  (AOSP v4.1.2) with a custom tile based user interface which resembles Nokia's Lumia Windows Phones. The device directs users to employ apps and services from Microsoft and Nokia instead of the standard Google services generally found on Android handsets. While developers have managed to bypass these restrictions and root the device to run Google apps, Nokia hopes that the Nokia X will help new customers find their way to its Lumia lineup.

The reason behind the affordable price of the Nokia X is that it is an entry level device, which features a 4 inch WVGA display, 4GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, a 3 megapixel rear camera, a 1500 mAh battery, optional dual-SIM capability, and a 1GHz Snapdragon dual-core processor with 512MB of RAM.
