Sony Xperia M2 officially announced

Sony has unveiled the new Xperia M2 during its MWC media event. The device brings great features like a decent camera, 4G LTE connectivity and a quad-core processor without the usual high price which is attached to such devices.

The Xperia M2 comes as the successor to last year's Xperia M, packing a large 4.8 inch display with a 540 by 960 pixel resolution. Sony is boasting that this is the "largest qHD display in its class", though, this results in a somewhat low 229 ppi pixel density. Other specs include an 8-megapixel camera, with Sony's proven Exmor RS sensor, 8GB of internal storage (no word on microSD slot, but it's likely), 4G LTE connectivity, optional dual SIM, a 2330mAh battery and a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor with 1GB of RAM.

The Xperia M2 comes with Sony's OmniBalance design and will be available in the three signature Xperia colors: black, white and purple, and will see a global launch starting April 2014. Exact market availability, and pricing hasn't been revealed just yet, though it's probably safe to assume that it will be priced similar to the 2013 Xperia M.
