Nokia Lumia 1020 for AT&T discounted to $49.99 on contract

The Nokia Lumia 1020 for AT&T is now being offered at just $49.99 on contract. Even though the Lumia 1020 has been around for some time now (July 2013), it is still considered by many as one of the best camera phones ever. The newly discounted price should make the handset even more appealing to potential customers.

Nokia USA tweeted an image showing the Lumia 1020 compared to other cameras (non-phones) and their prices. Cameras from Samsung, Sony, Panasonic and Nikon, presented costing more than the Windows Phone 8 device.

However it is important to remember that the $49.99 for the Lumia 1020 requires a 2 year contract with AT&T. You will have to pay $609.99 if you are looking to purchase the handset contract free on the carrier and probably even more unlocked.

The Symbian based Nokia 808 PureView was the first smartphone to offer the 41MP rear camera. Nokia has improved on that device by including optical image stabilization and several enhancements through Windows Phone 8 with Lumia Black and Windows Phone Update 3. Other than that you get a 4.5 inch AMOLED 720p display which can be used with gloves, LTE connectivity, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, a 2000 mAh battery and a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor with 2GB of RAM.

If you are planning to take advantage of the $49.99 price on AT&T you can purchase the Lumia 1020 in yellow, black or white. If you are not too particular about the 41MP camera with Xenon flash, you may also want to check out the Nokia Lumia 1520 which comes with a larger higher resolution display, expandable storage and faster processor. The newest flagship costs a very reasonable $99.99 through AT&T.
