LG G2 for Sprint receives OTA update to activate Spark bands

The LG G2 for Sprint is about to receive an OTA software update, dubbed ZVA, which enables the device to connect to Sprint Spark's LTE bands 26 and 41 (800MHz and 2500MHz). Up until now, the device could only connect to band 25 of the Sprint Spark LTE network.

Additionally the handset will also feature the Spark icon on its status bar, which will constantly spin when the device is in an area with Sprint's Spark LTE coverage. The update also fixes some problems that users might be experiencing with voicemail and MMS handling in Google Hangouts.

The Sprint Spark network was launched back in December last year. It's a tri-band LTE network (800MHz, 1900MHz, 2500MHz), which is touted as capable of achieving data speeds of up to 1Gbps. However, Sprint Spark clocks in at about 50-60 Mbps at the moment and is available in select cities, such as Austin, Texas, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, San Antonio, Tampa, and several more.
