[Android app] Facebook 3.8 beta available through beta program

Facebook has released version 3.8 of their Facebook for Android beta app for users who have signed up for the social networks Android beta program. Along with various bug fixes and performance improvements, the new beta allows users in the U.S. to set reminders for upcoming episodes of your favorite TV shows on participating Pages.

If you have already signed up for the beta, you will automatically receive the updated version of the application through the Google Play Store.

If you have not signed up for the beta and want to partake in it,

1. Join the Facebook for Android Beta Testers Google group:http://bit.ly/FBAndroidbeta
2. Tap Become a Tester in the Google Play Store and download the latest version of Facebook: http://bit.ly/121po70

Once you have completed these steps you can download the latest (beta) version of Facebook from the Play Store to your device.

[UPDATE] The Facebook 3.8 beta for Android has been updated (10/2/2013) with the following new fixes and improvements:

• Fix crash/restart when tapping the [i] button in chat window
• Fix crash when selecting from "Activity Log" in Timeline
• Fix crash when tagging a photo while and changing the device orientation 
• Fix crash when user taps "Done" on create album page
• Fix bug where black screen is shown after viewing a video full screen, backgrounding the app, and then reopening app
• Fix bug where video spinner is shown on Newsfeed after exiting full screen video
• Fix bug where no text cursor is shown when tagging friends in a status

[UPDATE 2] The Facebook 3.8 beta for Android has been updated (10/4/2013) with the following new features and improvements:

• An "Error Loading Story" issue when tapping a notification that a friend posted on another friend's timeline
• A crash when liking pages from feed
• A crash when commenting on a post with more comments than can fit on the screen
• An issue that caused the incorrect privacy on albums to display
• An issue when trying to select an album when uploading photos 
• An infinite loading spinner when checking into to a place with a photo

[UPDATE 3] The Facebook 3.8 beta for Android has been updated (10/15/2013) with the following new features and improvements:

• Fixed an issue when selecting a photo to upload
• Fixed a crash when opening the app the first time 
• Fixed a crash when refreshing news feed
• Fixed an issue causing the spinner to work improperly when loading/refreshing
• Various additional bug and crash fixes

[UPDATE 4] The Facebook 3.8 beta for Android has been updated (10/16/2013) with the following new features and improvements:

• Fixed an issue that caused the app to stall while using the composer
• Fixed an issue causing the app to freeze when sending a message
• Fixed an issue when tagging friends in photos
• Updated translations
• Various bug and crash fixes
• Various crash fixes for Facebook Home users.

Keep in mind that this is a beta version and can therefore have its share of bugs. Please do not update to the beta version unless you are aware of the risks. You can report any bugs you come across in this beta by:

1. Open the Facebook app, open the left nav & scroll to the bottom.
2. Tap on "Report a Problem".
3. Carefully choose the option that best fits your issue.
4. Provide a detailed report about what you were doing when the issue occurred.
