Samsung Galaxy S III to be redesigned with HD display, 2400 mAh battery and wireless charging ?

Samsung’s focus maybe on the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S IV but it looks like this may not be the end of their previous flagship, the Samsung Galaxy S III. While users would likely focus on the newer Galaxy S IV, Samsung is apparently planning to release an updated version of the Galaxy S III in parallel giving a likely cheaper option.

The Galaxy S III is one of the best selling Android devices having managed to exceed the thirty million mark in sales. Given the success of the device it is understandable that the company wants to keep it as an option to reach out to a wider audience who wont be able to afford the more expensive forth generation device.

This is not the first time the company has reinvigorated a device which has come to the end of its shelf life. In 2012 they released the Samsung Galaxy S II Plus and the Samsung Galaxy S Advance which surpassed their respective predecessors while staying fresh.

The revamped Galaxy S III is expected to arrive sometime after the launch of the Galaxy S IV. While Samsung hasn’t confirmed the final specifications of this device, it is expected to feature an improved potentially 1080p HD display, a 2400 mAh battery for extended battery life and possibly wireless charging.

We have to applaud this decision from Samsung especially when we compare their strategy with Apple’s. Apple has three iPhones in the market, with the entry level offering still sporting specs which are nearly three years too old. By offering their users more modern features, Samsung can actually coax entry level users to choose a Galaxy device instead of selecting cheaper iPhones.
