LG talks about the Google Nexus 4, supply issues to be resolved soon

Cathy Robin,  Director or LG Mobile France had some news regarding the recent shortages of the Google Nexus 4, where units are on sale for a very short time before they are sold out. She says that Google gave LG forecasts based on the Google Galaxy Nexus, thus significantly underestimating the actual demand the device would initiate.

She claims that as a result of this LG focused fewer resources to the Nexus 4 production which resulted in poor supply and that the company was now struggling to catch up with the current demand.

It’s a little hard to imagine that the search giant made such an obvious under estimate, especially considering the lower price point the new device was being offered at along with the significant hardware update. LG now claims that they are working overtime and hope to have a smooth supply of devices available by mid-February. This means that potential users have less than a month to wait to get their hands on a brand new Nexus 4.

The LG executive also confirmed that their relationship with Google hasn’t been strained by this issue  and that things between the two are going “very well”, she also said that the rumored 375,000 units sold is much lower in reality. Regarding the price point she clarified that the handset was not being sold at a loss, and that there was an internal agreement with Google to provide the Nexus 4 at a very attractive price, which was possibly in exchange for allowing LG to produce the Nexus device.
