Apple iOS 6.1 released for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad, download links available

Apple iOS 6.1 released for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad, download links availableApple has been intensely testing iOS 6.1 over the past few months. This interim update for iOS 6.0 has now been released and is available to download OTA (over-the-air) for supported iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad devices.

The update doesn’t bring any major features and focuses on improving the existing software for both users and developers and eradicating bugs.. Until now the update has only been available to those who have signed up for Apple’s $99 per year developer program.

The main focus of this update is to add LTE support for additional counties, improvements to Siri and a few improvements to the functionality of the iTunes app. The app is obviously not a major version which should eventually arrive alongside the next iPhone, however we are certain that any form of update that improves your device functionality will always be welcome by iOS users.

Additions include an improved setup wizard which confirms your Apple ID and password for iMessage and Facebook, a new sample card in your Passbook app, a Voice Dial Only switch for Siri which prevents the digital assistant from carrying out tasks other than calling contacts, a new cellular option for iTunes which allows users to download content over their 3G or 4G networks when Wi-Fi isn't available and LTE support for 36 additional countries.
