Sprint to offer Windows Phone 8 devices in 2013

Sprint is the only one of the four big carriers in the US not to offer Windows Phone 8 devices, but this may change in 2013. Sprint did offer the HTC Arrive as part of the first Windows Phone lineup, but it faced mediocre sales according to Sprint’s customer acquisition director David Owen.

Sprint however is optimistic about Windows Phone 8, and said they were partnering with Microsoft to bring new Windows Phone 8 devices to Sprint customers, on its 4G LTE network by next year.

While AT&T holds exclusivity on the Nokia Lumia 920 for six months, it makes sense that Sprint would prefer waiting before they jump in. While they would miss their chance selling Windows Phones this holiday season. Currently Sprint offers the LG Optimus G, Samsung Galaxy Note II and the Apple iPhone 5 on its smartphone lineup. It additionally has the Apple iPad 4 for anyone looking to purchase a new tablet, making their lineup quite comprehensive for Holiday shoppers.

We are still uncertain how well Windows Phone will fair against heavy competition in the mobile market. Sprint’s choice to look before they leap may be quite beneficial for the carrier if Windows Phone sales don’t pick up.
