Google purchases the Sparrow email client

Google purchases SparrowDom Leca, the CEO of the Sparrow email client announced that the company has been acquired by Google. and are popular email clients on Apple’s mobile and desktop platforms.

The application will continue being available to current iOS and Mac OS users along with support, but there unfortunately won't be any new features added. Instead Google will transfer the sleek design of Sparrow along with its many features on to its own GMail service.

The acquisition is reported to have cost Google close to $25 million, which includes relocating the Paris based Sparrow team to Google in Mountain View.

So while the Apple community bids adieu to one of their favorite mail clients, the Google Android community can get set to receive Sparrow’s expertise in their products.
