Google Chrome OS updated, offers Desktop and Taskbar

The latest development build (19.0.1048.17) of Chrome OS now offers a window manager, taskbar and a desktop compared to the browser only user interface which Chromebook users would be familiar with.

The content is all still on the web, but users are offered a more traditional desktop UI. Currently only owners of Samsung and Acer Chromebooks have access to the latest Dev Channel and the ‘Aura’ desktop scheme.

Google has stated that Aura requires hardware acceleration to offer transitions and animations. The underlying OS still remains the bare bones Chrome OS which it’s users love.
