Phones are becoming increasingly powerful, but they are restricted to a small size for portability and lacks a physical keyboard in favour of the touch interface. LightPad from QP Optoelectronics aims to bridge this gap, offering a 11-inch rear projection screen with a combined keyboard in a folio-style peripheral.
The built-in pico projector gives the screen a resolution of 854 by 840 pixels, you can flip it around to project your output on a 60-inch display. You can use the accessory with any smartphone which has an available MHL or HDMI port.
Watch the LightPad in action in the following demo video:
The next generation of devices promise high-definition resolutions of 1280 by 720 pixels and we can expect this to go full HD in the future.
