iMessage and AirPlay Mirroring coming to OS X

To more big features from iOS are set to make their way to OS X according to a report. These features are iMessage and AirPlay Mirroring and they will be available to OS X Lion users.

This report comes from 9to5Mac who cite 'sources familiar to the future of Mac OS X' to be the source of this information.

iMessage which was first introduced in iOS 5 is a messaging service for iOS devices like the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch and is similar to the BlackBerry Messenger service offered by RIM for iOS devices. You can send texts, photos and videos over WiFi or 3G. Offering iMessage to OS X will allow users to communicate with their friends and family who use iOS devices and thus broaden the appeal of Apple's offerings overall.

AirPlay Mirroring allows users to stream the contents on their iPad 2's screen to an HD television connected to Apple TV. We are not sure of the vision Apple has for this technology, but it would be great if users can stream  content between their Macs and iOS devices or event Mirror your latest presentation from your Macbook during a conference.

Share your thoughts on Apple bringing these features to the desktop platform. While we do support the thought of bringing iOS features to the Mac, It would be the shame if we would have to pay Apple each year for brining new updates to our Macs which are already available on our much cheaper iPhones and iPads.
